Milfoil (achillea millefolium), family asteraceae. During the blooming period the herb contains the flavones, alkaloid achilleine, coumarins, aconitic acid, bitter principles and tanning substances, resins, organic acids, inuline, asparagines, mineral salts, ascorbic acid, phyloquinone and choline.

Milfoil (achillea millefolium), family asteraceae. During the blooming period the herb contains the flavones, alkaloid achilleine, coumarins, aconitic acid, bitter principles and tanning substances, resins, organic acids, inuline, asparagines, mineral salts, ascorbic acid, phyloquinone and choline. The leaves and flower heads contain the essential oil (up to 0.85%) of yellowish-green or blue color which consists of cineol (8-10%), azulenes, compound ethers, Camphora, thujole, caryophyllene, L-borneol, ?-pinene, L-limonene, thujone, bornyl acetate, salicylic, formic, acetic and isovalerianic acid.
Usage description
It has bactericidal, astringent and anti-inflammatory, antiallergenic effect, soothes the irritation, and tones the skin. For dietary supplement products it is widely used in the medicine of different countries as an anthemorrhagic drug (at the nasal, uterine, pulmonary, hemorrhoidal and other hemorrhages), for colitis, different diseases of gastrointestinal tract, gastroduodenal ulcer, inflammatory diseases of urinary tracts, as the astringent agent for the gastrointestinal distresses, has the anti-inflammatory and bactericidal properties.
