Glucosamine is a compound of glucose and amino acid. It widely occurs in nature and it is a part of many polysaccharides contained in vertebrate animal tissues, the main component of chitin – structural polysaccharide forming the exoskeleton of insects, crayfish, crabs, etc. It is an essential component for building connective tissue as an element of glucosamineglucans (mucopolysaccharides) and glycoproteins.
