Artichoke (from Latin cynara) is a genus of plants of asteraceae family. The origin of the name is explained from the Arabic words al-khurshuf, through the Italian articiocco [1]. Artichoke cleans and revitalizes the skin. Artichoke extract is recommended primarily in cases of diseases of the liver and gall bladder. Artichoke extract contains active ingredient – bioflavonoid cynarin, which, being a powerful antioxidant, binds free radicals.
