Calendula

A member of the asteraceae family ofherbaceous plants. It contains essential oils, carotenoids (carotene, lycopene, lutein, violaxanthin and etc.), flavonoids, saponins, salicylic acid, resins, mucilage, organic acids, trace of alkaloids. It produces a calming effect on the central nervous system, reduces reflex excitability. It has antibacterial properties against a number of pathogens, especially against staphylococci and streptococci. It is used as wound-healing, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent: tincture as a choleretic agent, tincture for angina, gastro-intestinal diseases, inflammatory liver process, for treatment of parodontosis, ointment for bruises, cuts, furunculosis, burns, disinfects wounds. It is included into the composition of Viva Fit herbal tea.
