It is obtained from the trees of myroxylon pereirae specie wild-growing in the countries of Central America, Ceylon and Java. The active material is a cinnamine (50-75%) consisting of the mixture of benzyl ethers of the benzoic and cinnamic acids, free cinnamic acid (5-10%), its cinnamonic ester styracin, vaniline, farnesol and peruviol. It has the bactericidal and fungicidal effects, and stimulated the regeneration processes. It is used as the soft agent for the care of skin and its cleaning; it is an antiseptic which heals wounds.
