It is a vegetable oil extracted from seeds of rape plant (Lat. brassica napus). Monounsaturated fatty acids of oleic series dominate and a small amount of di- and triunsaturated acids is contained in the oil composition, that is why the oxidation is decreased and the shelf life is increased. Oil value is connected with the balanced combination of saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids. It is a source of essential fatty acids (omega 3-6), contains the smallest amount of saturated fatty acids in comparison with the other vegetable oils and a large number of vitamin E.
