Salycilic acid

Salicylic acid is a chemical substance with an antipyretic and analgesic effect. Salicylic acid is found in the form of methyl ester in essential oils and as a plant hormone in the leaves, blossoms and roots of various plants[ and is important for the herbal defense against pathogens. It got its name because it was formerly mainly obtained by the oxidative treatment of salicin, which is contained in the bark of various willows. Salicylic acid shows a sufficient keratolytic and thus also comedolytic effect for acne therapy for a 5% solution. The 10% solution is used for treating corns, warts and skin fungi.
