Senna acutifolia (alexandrian senna) or cassia (cassia senna L.) - fabaceae family. Leaves and fruits that containing anthraglycosides (sennosides A, B and etc.), anthraderivatives (rhein aloemodin), flavonoids, isorhamnetin, kaempferol, kempferin, phytosterol, phytosterolin, salicylic, palmitic acid and other acids. It stimulates appetite, has a mild laxative effect (in 6-8 hours after intake).
It is used for constipation of various etiologies. Constipation, diarrhea, intestinal atony, chronic gastrointestinal diseases, liver diseases, biliary dyskinesia, chronic enterocolitis, chronic gastritis, gastroduodenitis, dysbacteriosis, for reduction of appetite.
