Flowers containing flavonoid glycoside centaurein, blue anthocyanin glycoside cyanine, essential oil, bitter substances, tannins, saponins, mineral salts and other substances are used. They are used in diuretic tees, especially for edema of renal and cardiac origin, as anti-inflammatory agent, and as antispasmodic for liver diseases. Flowers in the form of infusions and extracts are used for nephritis, nephrosonephritis, cystitis, urethritis as a diuretic agent and for liver and biliary tract diseases as a choleretic agent.
